The latest cultural and eco-tourism addition to the Aba Prefecture and Jiuzhaigou County. This poor and remote Tibetan mountain village has typically been both a yak herding and subsistence farming community. It's remoteness has ensured the local culture has remained intact and now they have opened to eco-tourists from around the world. Camp in the beautiful river-side campsite, sit around the camp fire by the old stupa and prepare for one, two or three day hikes or horse treks in the surrounding mountains. There are numerous trails traditionally used by yak herders and a pilgrimage trail around the sacred mountain behind the local monastery. Zhi Ma is a 2 hour drive from Jiuzhai Valley on the alternative route to Ruo Er Gai.
